After a transformational week at the inner leadership course last week I did an overnight stay by the sea in Sitges, where I had also began the week. It was healing and restorative to be near to the waves once again and I fell into a lovely deep sleep shortly after having written the following lines.
Here is the link if you would like to watch the filmed version of my poem :
Sea Sent Live Version
Sea Sent
I need the vast horizon, the spirit of wild wave
I need the curling gusts of tide, the energy displayed
I need the sensuality of spacious, free expression
The push and pull polarity of seaside decompression
I need the laid-back scent of salt
This harbour holds my yearning
I need to breathe, accept my faults
Compassion is my learning
I need the sea inside of me
Outside of me, around me
Itβs spirit leaps with pride in me
It glides in me and grounds me

Lovely poem, Sam. I liked lines 3 and 4 the most, the flow, the rhymes, the alliteration, the spot-on sentiment. I’m not much for laying on or playing on the beach, but I love the calming rush and retreat of waves, the tangy salt smell of the ocean. π

A definite bonus of living in the UK, the sea is never too far away!

Yes true. We have the lakes in Switzerland which are stunning and tranquil and at the same time I do need a regular break beside the sea!
