Cheery Cherry

One of the more obtuse yet surprisingly productive prompts was to write about a memory from the perspective of a piece of clothing! I chose to write through the eyes of a cherry summer dress and in doing so, a lot of childhood joy came flooding back!

Cherry-Dress Recollections

Gazing out at the Rhinefield river

The breeze billowing bliss through my summer spaghetti-straps

I’m all red-cherried cotton and you flounce felicitously

Rara-come-Charleston frills expanding and contracting like a concertina

I sense your cool skin beneath my light-hearted lining

Skipping heart chasing butterflies

Rare to appreciate nature

at such a tender age…

Cheeky chops conveying calm camaraderie

Small wonder that you were born in the Spring
