Sound Bites

The sound and rhythm of words fascinate me and if I could play the guitar I would love to try my hand at songwriting. This week I’ve been experimenting with sonorous word choices and have found it quite satisfying to pen some poetry which is not in my usual style.

Cuttlefish

He was her favourite cuttlefish

Invoked from summer’s wishing-well

His skin scent apricot-delicious

The very last to kiss-and-tell

A gourmet slow-cooked, subtle dish

her hair upon his collar fell

Cravate of silky purplish,

a muttered swish, and her chest swelled

Pretended that he couldn’t tell

A little kiss and all was swell

Oh Cuttlefish, oh darling Nell
