Walkie-Talkies

Andy and I really enjoy walking together. It’s a great opportunity to get out in nature and talk openly about stuff away from the day to day chores. We have made some of our best decisions whilst out hiking and are lucky to be able to do some really nice local hikes very near to where we live. Today’s poem is about the start of our walking holiday in Germany this year and brings back some lovely memories.

Common Ground

The open-road tap dances in front of us

Sticks and shoes scuffing across grainy ground

Serenity in the unspoken,

in the common understanding,

in the presence of our crinkled morning eyes

Drawn to the present like two survival documentary presenters

Innocent eyes reignited with the will to wonder
