Determined not to miss a day, I finally gleaned that the Day 19 brief is to write a paragraph that briefly recounts a story, describes the scene outside our window, or even gives directions from home to the grocery store. Next we are to erase words from this paragraph to create a poem or, alternatively, use the words of your paragraph to build a new poem. Whilst consuming my break time snack I gazed out of the window and came up with the following poetic offering based on the paragraph underneath.

Slice of Life

Tweeting and ploughing

Hazy, pleasant breeze

Bugs exploring overgrown grass

Shadows on rusty barks

Pungent fertiliser stench

Gentle thud of break time footballs

The scraping and filling of construction

Two recumbent bicycles

Original Paragraph

The birds are tweeting and the tractors are ploughing the fields in purposeful rows. The sunshine is hazy and there is a pleasant breeze. Some bugs are exploring the overgrown grass and the school building is casting shadows on the rusty barks. There is a pungent stench of fertiliser and the gentle thud of break time footballs can be heard. The scraping and filling of rural construction can be heard and two cyclists ride by on recumbent bicycles.
