Don’t judge a book…

Nine days into the global poetry challenge and today’s suggestion is to craft a poem in which something big and something small come together. Although small in stature, Delilah is certainly a force to be reckoned with!

Delilah and The Storm

The calamitous crash thundered through the thick thatch

And Delilah took shelter in a hopeful hole between the beams

Gusts grew like giants, driving the terrifying tree deeper into the ruined roof

And tiny Delilah scurried speedily into her precarious refuge hanging on for dear life

Though small in stature, this resourceful rodent was not one to surrender to a challenge

But loose vaults were swinging from the sunken ceiling

And the stubborn storm gathered force like a merciless wrecking ball

Delilah’s tiny rodent heart pounded through her terrified tail

as she held on heroically in her hollowed hide out

Holding her sacred ground until the eye of the suffocating storm slammed shut

And she escaped.
