Fruit Medley

The moon returns regularly to my writing and seems to take a slightly different form each time I see it. One night on holiday Andy and I spotted a half crescent moon in the sky which seemed to be smiling down quirkily at the pair of us. The very next day our curious looking moon had been replaced by a faded silhouette, prompting me to write this little poem.

Half Melon Moon

Half Melon Moon, like a lopsided smile

You hang in the sky almost teasing

Both of us mesmerised by your profile

Though the evening sea wind feels quite freezing

Half Melon Moon, the next day you are gone

In the noon sky we spy your poor sister

Twisted and pale, wishing you had still shone

You happy Half Melon Moon Mister
