Alsatian Appreciation

The Alsace brings back some fantastic memories for Andy and I. Lovely times spent with Dad and Pat wondering around the cobbled streets and walking through the vineyards and cheeky weekends away full of storks, sunshine and good food and wine. Then there was our long mecca last summer from Marlenheim down to Cernay. This weekend we had Andy’s Mum and Auntie out to stay and spent a happy and memorable day in Riquewihr together. The Alsace never fails to please.

Riquewihr Reflections

A lovely day in Riquewihr

With Andy’s Mum and Auntie here

The hours seemed to disappear

As storks and tartes flambรฉes appeared

On twisty olde worlde lanes

Red hearts hung from the window panes

Grateful that it hadn’t rained

A coffee stop when forces waned

And Kir Royals did reinstate us

Macaroons, lilac clematis

Mountain cheese of local status

And tourist shops to fascinate us

Dried sweetcorn hanging from the doors

Checked tablecloths and cobbled floors

Wood beamed houses, little pause

Some photos of our mini tour

And in the car we closed our eyes

Reflected on a day of highs

Drew’s fish was met by hungry eyes

Some Pass the Pig, then beddy byes
